A gateway to data on the accuracy of federal payments.

PaymentAccuracy.gov compiles and synthesizes agency-reported information on improper payments to help taxpayers, policymakers, and oversight bodies track progress and identify risks across agencies and programs.

About the data

The Payment Integrity Information Act of 2019 (PIIA) (P.L. 116-117) and Appendix C to Circular No. A-123, Requirements for Payment Integrity Improvement require all federal agencies to report information related to improper payments. This website is the centralized location for all federal Payment Integrity information and includes data on rates, recoveries, dollar amounts, root causes, and more. Data reported accounts for improper payments made under the Biden administration and spending prior to the year when the reporting occurred. Each agency is responsible for providing and certifying the information published on this website. All data displayed on this site can be downloaded here.
