Why recovery audits are not cost effective in certain programs
It is cost effective for the Museum to conduct a review of the payment activities rather than a full audit. The review of payment activities allow the Museum to identify within a shorter time period than if a full recovery audit were conducted.
Supplemental Information
The Museum has been working with the Department of Treasury to enroll in the Do Not Pay program. The Department of Treasury has informed us they are pausing all new enrollments for the time being and will reach out when they are ready to resume.
The Working System has not reduced/prevented improper payments:

USHMM was found compliant during the most recent PIIA compliance review.
